Possible placement solution

The first thing you need to understand is that this device connects to your lock via Bluetooth, just like your phone, so it needs to be in close proximity. to your castle. Not everyone will have an outlet within 15 feet of their front door, but almost everyone will have a light in their entryway. I bought a GE 54276 Polarized Convenience Outlet and instead of a lightbulb this is now my August Bridge. This means you must keep that switch on at all times—install a protective cover so no one…

  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

No auto lock!: Hardware

It does most of what it says on the tin but the main reason I bought this particular smart lock was the price, the reviews and that it should open the door automatically, as soon as you are within Bluetooth range. This feature is terrible. So far out of 3 phones only iPhone X works this way and only 20% of the time. This means it will NOT work for iPhone X 80% of the time and will NOT work at all for all Android devices. My Android phones are the Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 5. If you buy this…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Exchange availability

The main reason I bought this product was that I didn't want to use bluetooth as a smart lock unlock connection anymore. I found that while the remote access features worked somewhat, the device was never able to unlock my door based on location. I tried to follow all the instructions on their website e.g. B. making sure your phone is not set to Do Not Disturb, etc. However, I have found that despite all the advice I have followed, I still have not been able to get the product to work. . I…

DOA. So disappointed. UPDATE @ 6 months

So waiting for the 3rd generation lock. Mine came DOA. Tried three sets of batteries, confirmed how they should be installed. There was never a beep when inserting the batteries. When they called support they confirmed it was a new lock that never activated and said I could send it to them for repair but no replacement without ETA for repair. So I'll just send it back to Revane. A very poor quality control process will result in a faulty device. I'm not sure I'll try the August product again…

I really want this product though.

I recommend the new Wyze door lock. This is an excellent product compared to August. He can feel my door opening without any additional devices. It comes with Wi-Fi with no additional purchases. UPDATE (11/9/2019): Moving to a townhouse. Doorsense is useless because it's a magnet and any metal nearby will ruin it (metal door frame). The WiFi connection was unstable and useless. Now you need to look for a new lock. UPDATE (8/8/2018): After recent firmware updates, the consistency and stability…

  • Vulgarity

Unusable with the last update.

This lock was bought because of the automatic unlocking feature. It doesn't unlock at all. I also bought the August Connect so it automatically unlocks when I get home. I live where it rains almost every day all summer long. Auto unlock would have been nice instead of fiddling with keys in the rain. Now I have to sit in the car and fumble with the phone to open the door. The auto lock/unlock feature works with voice control via Revain Alexa. It just doesn't automatically unlock when you get…

Some issues but it works

After reading all the bad reviews about this device I was immediately tempted to buy the August Connect to see if the problem was operator error or really a design flaw of the device was. After reading a lot of bad reviews, I assumed the problem would be with the former, as in my experience many device usage problems stem from poor end-user handling. As an electronics engineer, network/IT technician and do-it-yourselfer, I was very motivated to tackle the August connection. I try to be as brief
