It's a little bigger than I thought considering how short the bags are but it filters fine particles well. I would use cheesecloth for the biggest stuff first and then run juice through to get cleaner juice. The legs screw into the ring, but they should be slightly loose when planted on the rim of a round pot. If they're dressed so they don't move, then they're not in a pot. Maybe it should be in the container and not balanced on the pot? Still glad I got it and would recommend for small batches of jelly.
