Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Enhance Printer Performance with HICTOP Z Axis Upgrade Stepper Printer by Ryan Turner

Required Direct Drive update

I have an extra heavy tool on my Ender 3 Pro. Unfortunately, when using only a Z stepper motor, the right side of the X-axis guide sags a bit because nothing is holding it. This becomes even more apparent when the hot end moves to the right of the x-axis. I tried everything to see if I could stop the streaks that were showing up in my printouts. I finally bit the bullet and tried this double Z kit. It was amazingly packaged, with tons of extra screws and bolts. Installation was a bit tricky as it requires careful balancing to reinstall everything properly. I did not use the Z-Bar threaded nut that came with the kit. Instead, both of my Z stepper motors have anti-backlash nuts installed to solve some of the other Z axis issues. Combined with the two Z motors, this works wonders for my printer. Be sure to stock up on rod lube, it's not included in the kit! I used Superlube on both of my Z-Rods. The PSU mount fits my Ender 3 Pro perfectly. However, I've read that you need to grind/sand the black anodized contact points so they route the ground to the printer frame. Other than that, this set is great. I do not recommend using top mounted Z aligners. They usually do more harm than good; Just make sure your bars are straight. Finally, you need to align both sides of the X-axis carriage as much as possible to get a "flat" Z-axis.
