I have a self-inflating sleeping pad. When you open the valve on the lining, the foam expands and draws in air. A few more breaths and the pillow is comfortable. When I camp, I sleep in the back seat of my 4x4. When it comes time to put the sheets away for the day, I usually just fold the pad up because it's difficult to roll it up and squeeze the air out to put it back in my bag. I needed an air pump. Sleeping pad so that it can be stowed away quickly and easily. I also wanted a pump to suck air out of the space bags when traveling so my clothes take up less space. First, I bought a pump from a different make/model. Another model ran with a 12V cigarette lighter and 120V AC; I liked the dual power options. The pump came and I tested it. The only way to get him sucking on a sleeping pad was to roll up the pad and sit on it while the pump was running, which is little better than no pump at all. Certainly not strong enough for my needs. I haven't even tested it on space bags. I sent the device back. I checked the datasheet and found that another pump model says 0.6psi. So I looked at what there is in similar models with more power. I found a few at 1.2psi and then this block at 1.6psi. I bought this device because it was the most powerful. Tonight, on my first night of owning it, I sucked on a smaller sleeping pad than I've ever seen. I also put a large winter jacket in a space bag and vacuumed it up, smaller than I've ever seen with my upright vacuum. This pump feels well made, is easy to use and very powerful. I wish it had a 12v cord as well, but I have a small inverter for my laptop that I can probably use when camping in the car. I am very happy with this purchase, I recommend this device among competitors.
