The office computer needed a few more ports and this hub had good reviews and was quite small. The short cable did the trick, so I had to plug it into the top USB port and use that for my keyboard and mouse, and use the freed-up bottom ports for other devices I added. As others have said, this is not a self-powered hub and will not charge or charge slowly for some devices. In my case, plugging in a keyboard, mouse, and random USB drive is fine.
