Review on πŸ“± CNPGD Smart Watch: An Android & iPhone Compatible Quad Band Unlocked Cell Phone Watch for Men and Women with Touch Screen, Fitness Tracker, Pedometer, and Sleep Monitor by Sam Kriegshauser

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive for what it is

It's nothing more than a toy, but for $12 it's everything you would expect. Of course, if you want the features and quality of an Apple Watch or Google Wear, then you're going to spend a lot more. The watch keeps what it promises. It syncs with your smartphone and displays notifications. You can answer and reject calls and use the watch as a speakerphone. There is a calculator, calendar and other basic utilities. You can't add more apps, but that's what the description says. Music sounds pretty good for a tiny speaker in a watch. The pedometer and exercise apps are only available when needed. So you have to turn them on when you start walking or exercising and turn them off when you're done. This works great for me because I only care about those stats when I'm actually exercising, but if you're expecting anything like a Fitbit you'll be disappointed. A NOTICE. For most functions to work, you need to insert a micro SD card. I had an old 512MB drive laying around so I installed it and all the features were available. Another option is to insert a SIM card and use it as a phone. I haven't tried it, but it might be fun. The strap is chunky and can't be swapped out, but feels solid and doesn't feel uncomfortable. I bought this for my 9 year old daughter and it is too big but fits my 7 inch wrist with plenty of room. The screen is plastic and prone to scratches, but it's reasonably responsive and actually looks decent. There are a number of apps you can use to sync it with your Android phone, giving you options. Scanning the QR code that came with the watch will take you to the Chinese version, but the same app is available in English on the Google App Store. After trying a few of them we decided to stick with the one they recommend (in English). Battery life is a bit disappointing. You can make this a day of your life if you don't play with it too much. Daily charging isn't the worst, and most smartwatches need frequent charging, but you'd think a better battery could be squeezed into such a bulky body. My teenage daughter stole it from her little sister. This is possibly the best rating I could give. Like I said, it's mostly a toy, but it actually does everything it claims to do and does it well enough. Adjust your expectations and there's no reason why you couldn't use this every day. And if it breaks, you won't gain much.
