I have pecans in my garden and had a bumper crop last year. I've been eating about 8-10 gallon buckets of nuts, but since buying this cracker I'm making about four times faster progress than I used to and getting a lot more whole halves. I've seen some complaints about the force required, but the secret I've figured out is that it works best if you adjust the size of each nut so that the handle is about 45 degrees from vertical, and then on the remaining press 15-20 degrees all the time. and that will be enough to crack a nut. This way it doesn't take a lot of hand strength and you don't break the nut into lots of tiny, crushed pieces. With the thread adjuster, you can easily adjust the position of smaller or larger nuts in seconds, then split them and separate the flesh from the shell. and maybe a bit more cracking but I'm still very happy with the results compared to the old nutcracker I used. I look forward to lots of nut cakes in my future!
