I had a 35" x 45" softbox that was not used for years due to lack of a matching CFL light head. I stumbled across this item and ordered it because it looked like it might work and the price was very attractive. I used a Chimera light ring on this softbox when setting up flashes. This CFL head fits perfectly (I recommend removing the light and just assembling the softbox with a metal ring, it's much easier). I put 5 CFLs in and now I have an updated large softbox with a decent amount of errand lumens. Weak point - the place of attachment of the lamp. The plastic isn't as thick as it should be to load such an assembly. The swivel will not stay in place even when properly tightened. I think it was a cost saving measure. Do not overuse this joint. If you are careful, you will benefit a lot from this device. The ring itself is metal and quite durable. It can be adapted to many existing lamp heads. For this user he works in the studio. Just don't abuse it and it will move on. Be careful, this is a deal.
