For clarity, the lanyard must be attached to a hard surface if it is to be completely flat. This is real leather so it has some curvature. Of course, this depends on your blades and your sharpening technique. White is about twice as hard as green and (obviously) requires more effort to apply. Green is about as hard as hard clay. Both mixes work as expected and adhere well to the belt. I attached a belt to a small spatula in the kitchen to finally sharpen kitchen knives. Great quality at a great price. In fact, it's 1/8 inch shy in each direction.
