We tried this on a Garmin 740S. It will not be installed without the 1st software update. We couldn't use Garmin's download option because we had an old version of Mac iOS. We bought a pre-installed software update chip from Garmin. This updated the software to version 4.50. However, this version seems to be too new for the LakeVU chip we bought, or we have an incompatibility problem between plotter, software and charts. Tired and frustrated, we are considering replacing the chartplotter with one with LakeVU maps preloaded. It took months to resolve this issue trying to download a software update using Garmin Express and other projects. The return window expired after 30 days. BUMPER!
