Review on Ultra 1080P Monitor Sceptre E248W-1920R with 60Hz Refresh Rate, Flicker-Free Technology, and Tilt Adjustment by Swami Shuster

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheap, smart, good performance.

Good monitor for this price (I paid about $110). Very sleek and thin like me 30 years ago. Hm. Brushed metal edges give it an expensive, high-tech look. The silver scepter logo at the bottom center makes it look like you're in a James Bond movie. Enjoy word processing with a vodka martini, something you should be able to do with or without this monitor. I had no problem connecting it to my laptop with an HDMI cable (not included, but there is a VGA cable which should be sufficient for most computing use cases). Colors look lifelike, resolution is crisp, and there are multiple preset display options to choose from. I'm using Text, but Games and others are also available and users can define their own. It also comes with something that's becoming increasingly rare - a full-color, glossy manual written in recognizable English, as if the scepter decided to take pity on someone with a master's degree in English found in a van by the river lived. Why don't all technology companies with a presence in North America do this? Consumers would be happy and poverty would decrease. I'm deducting one star because of the small transformer at the plug end of the power cord, which wastes cabinet and/or outlet space. Also, the power button and other buttons are on the back of the monitor, but they all have the same shape and no tactile differences, so it's easy to mix them up. Operating the on-screen display with these buttons is a bit fiddly to get used to, but once you've dialed in your settings, you won't need to use them often.
