Benefits: - 1" inlet/outlet connections do not limit water pressure - High quality water thanks to dual stage sediment and carbon composite filters - Filter change only required once a year, up to 100,000 gallons (money savings) - Easy installation - Sturdy metal wall mount - The overall construction is very solid. The company has stated that standard 1" cone (NPT) fittings will fit these female fittings, but I think they allow for loose plastic threads. I'm having trouble sealing my 1" to 3/4" adapters (1" male thread and 3/4" female thread) tightly and drip-free. I connected Sharkbites with a 3/4" male thread and a 3/4" connection on the other side to these adapters for my installation. I used 3 wraps of teflon tape on my adapters and they were still slowly dripping around the case. I took them out, re-wrapped them with Teflon tape, and then covered them with Oatey Pipe Joint Compound, which is safe for drinking water. This finally stopped my slow leakage after 1 week. I think they need to check the tolerance and depth of these threaded connections. My adapters were fully tightened and the nut went all the way to the connector body (even with teflon tape and pipe ground) but they didn't go all the way to the bottom. outside on the inside of the threaded connection. Sharkbite makes a 3/4" and 1" male pipe adapter that is available online through Home Depot, but it wasn't available when I was working on this project. However, none of the stores near me stock this branded item (they want you to order a box of 25). This would make the job a lot easier and probably wouldn't leak, but I don't buy a whole box when I only need two! For this price the company might be able to offer matching 1" to 3/4" adapters as most homes have 3/4" plumbing. I'm deducting 1 star for this disappointment, but that does to the high water quality of this one Unit does not degrade Comments: I installed this in July 2015 and have been using it for 6 months now Overall this is a quality product with high quality water I would definitely recommend this to any homeowner looking to improve their water quality whilst keeping the overall cost down leaving about $500 (this kit plus additional plumbing supplies) This got rid of all odors and bad tastes which is good as our water has a lot of sediment, minerals and chlorine in it.We have found that shampoo and shower gel foam better and our Detergent works better.I only deducted 1 star because of the initial leaks I had with their 1" connections as described in my cons ogen. For hobbyists, I recommend using Sharkbite tees, elbows, and quarter-turn valves to keep the burner tube and solder from sweating. They cost more but shorten the runtime. I've used them for many plumbing projects and never had a leak. I set mine up with 3 quarter turn valves: 1 on the intake side, 1 on the exhaust side and 1 as a bypass over the block. The bypass valve allows water into the house while the inlet/outlet valves are closed for annual maintenance (canister cleaning and filter changes). My main installation is in my basement, so this unit is mounted on a cement wall. Instead of Tapcon masonry screws, I used a 3/8" x 3" Red Head wall anchor with hex nuts. They attach securely to the cement wall and leave a threaded stud protruding about 1/2 inch from the wall. Simply hang the filter housing wall mount over the red cap screws, add washers and tighten the hex nuts. Red Heads and Sharkbites make it easy to take off if it ever needs to be removed or misplaced.
