Ideal for small batches of mashed potatoes, carrots etc and for squeezing water out of thawed batches of frozen spinach. I cook for myself and too often settle for less than the best. Frozen meals, instant potatoes. You know what to do. But I love good food, and at least this gadget makes it easy and fun to make real mashed potatoes in time for roasting chicken. Russets or Yukon Gold, of course. Cut into cubes, bring to a boil, then cook for 25 minutes and strain well. The more water you can drain off the potatoes before frying, the better, as it will make them more willing to absorb the added milk, cream, or butter. over the kitchen sink displaces most of the water before the potatoes push through the holes. I have leftover mashed potatoes ready to soak up the liquids I want to add. This product also has suggestions for potatoes with garlic and herbs, etc. much tastier than instant potatoes!
