Review on SMONTER 38-Inch Heavy Duty Metal Dog Cage with Wheels, I Shape, Brown - Strong Pet Kennel Crate Playpen by Beth Wilson

I adopted a 40 lb terrier mix from a shelter and quickly discovered I had a Houdini with severe separation anxiety. Even with lots of chew toys, thunder t-shirts, plush congas, and treats, he didn't want to stay in the cage without me. After each time I fortified the place where he escaped and tried to secure all possible exits. Any escape scared me that he would hurt himself. After the third escape I found this box. This box was just right. We have been using it for three weeks now, there have been no shoots. Snap hooks are great for keeping clasps in place. A few complaints and things I needed to fix: 1) The hinges were very weak. My dog was able to get off the bolt with enough shaking. I used a socket wrench and needle nose pliers to tighten each latch to prevent it from wiggling. 2) On the side door, the top latch, the screw jumped out too far making it difficult to close the latch. I had to shave it off. A friend who walks my dog during the day couldn't figure out how to properly close the top latch the first time, and my dog didn't walk away with just one latch closed. Separation anxiety and his focus on getting out of the box and getting to where he thinks I could be. On every previous escape I've found him lying in the room I was last sitting in before leaving the house with minimal damage (damage only to things he encountered along the way). He doesn't destroy things in his drawer (and he's a badass). Because of this, he can have a soft cage mat. The metal bars at the bottom of the box felt uncomfortable, so I invested in a heavier Kong mat. Two rugs together seem more comfortable for my furry best friend. This cage was a relief while we worked on cage training. He protected him and our home. I have attached photos of the boxing training exercises.
