Review on ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4 Motherboard by Boyan Jurov ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best offers, glad I bought it.

Took for a tandem with 10400F, everything works fine. Overpaying for Z or not for locked processors is up to you, but with the H and B chipsets on the i5, you will get a maximum of 2666 memory and minus 10-15% FPS.

Pros
  • One of the most budget solutions on the Z490, a reinforced PCI Express slot, a convenient BIOS. Allows you to overclock memory with locked processors, for example with i5 10400F. Starts very quickly, 5-7 seconds to Windows. I picked up the XMP profile from 3400 MHz memory without any problems. Convenient control of all fans using curves in the BIOS. There is a so-called Base Frequency Bost, but I don’t see the point in it, because. for example 10400F under load and so it boosts up to 4100-4300, it still won’t jump higher.
Cons
  • More expensive by 4 thousand in comparison with the analogue on the B460. There is a slight rustle under load, possibly throttle. April 2022: This seems to be a stripped-down power plan, and Rocket Lake won't work, unlike more expensive Z490-based boards. I didn’t really want to, of course, but there is a sediment.
