I used this product for the first few uses of my 3 fx6 Fluval canister filters. Words cannot express how important it is to have an excellent bio-sponge in your filter, as well as a fine and polished one. You need high performance mechanical filtration as well as excellent biofiltration for you to have a maintenance free tank and aquarium. I use sea clean orbs and sea clean gems and some matrix in the bottom compartments of my fx6. But it all starts with this organic sponge. It's worth the money and you'll never have to replace it.
