I bought this to surface mount and initially it worked great. The lighting could have been a lot better but it worked for what I needed. Then, after not using it for a few weeks, I turned it on and was greeted with a blank screen. The power is turned on, the illuminator lights up, but after that it stops working. It didn't even turn off except via the reset or power off button. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I replaced it and then plugged it back in, but still no luck. Now it's just a paperweight. While this is probably just my device, I'm still disappointed.
