This meter works exactly as it was designed for its purpose. I use it to determine the power of devices used with an inverter. In the picture it is outside of its black box with no load connected and shows 120VAC - 0.05A or 50mA - 0.5W. I have tested this meter from 16W to 750W and it is very accurate. Guess why it reads no load? Think before you answer. Remember that regardless of whether the device is on or off, there is still a wire going through the CT that has potential, which is 120 VAC. And yes, the house is properly grounded and the meter gives the same result with the hot or neutral AC wire, and swapping the CT wires doesn't matter because it doesn't matter. This meter does exactly what it is supposed to. Let's hope it stands the test of time.
