Works well comes with hook and rope end pin

Why pack a box of chalk when you can do it for you? I'm an amateur carpenter so I don't need more than about 20 feet and this one retracts with an internal spring. Please note that this is clearly a Japanese instrument for the domestic market; Packaging and device in Japanese only. It wasn't a problem, just play with it for a minute before putting the chalk in. The only parts that bothered me were: Open the chalk door to rotate the ring around the spool and take out the spool. Turn the black disk on the back to wind the spring. Google translator on your phone will translate if you're really interested. There is no hook memory in this device. I suspect Japanese buyers prefer the lapel pin. The pin retracts into its body when it comes out of the wood so you don't get poked if it flies back at you. There is no chalk with the device, please buy it separately. Shinwa is a good Japanese brand, maybe a notch above Empire in the US. I also recommend their chamfers with a screw at the bottom.
