I've been using SSD drives for a few years now and this is all I'll be using as an internal drive. I recently bought a refurbished iMac that came with Stock 3.5 was delivered." 1TB HDD and wanted to replace it with a 1TB Samsung 840 Evo SSD. I was looking at various 2.5" to 3.5" driver converters and found many differences and wanted to make sure that the adapter I bought had two functions: 1. a 3.5" adapter in full size, meaning it has screw holes on the side of the drive in the right places to plug it into the iMac (I watched a YouTube video of a guy putting an SSD in his 27" iMac, and he used one of the smaller 2.5-3.5" adapters that sometimes come with an SSD and since it was short he could only screw the SSD in place with 2 screws instead of all 4 so his drive only dangling in the case and not securely fastened - - NO, THANKS!) 2. The adapter needs to place the 2.5" drive on the rear/SATA end of the adapter so that the length of the SATA cable when connecting the 2, 5" SSD is in the same place. Looking around, I noticed that there are a lot of adapters on a 2.5" ll drive are centered which means the SATA cable needs to be longer and in some cases may not reach, and this isn't a risk I want to take when opening an iMac. The photos showed this full-size Sabrent adapter with the screw holes in the right places, and it also placed the SSD on the back of the adapter so cable reach wasn't an issue. This adapter worked great for installing an SSD in my 2013 27" iMac. I highly recommend it for people who need the above two criteria. Of the adapters that met both of these criteria, this one also had the best price AND met Prime criteria, which means I received it in 2 days. Please note that this converter can hold two SSD drives, but I only needed it for one. One more note: I originally bought an Icy Dock EZConvert 2.5" to 3.5" SATA SSD/HDD Converter from http://www. amazon.com/gp/product/B002Z2QDNE thought I could use this, but I didn't like two things about this solution. It unnecessarily encased the SSD in plastic that, while it had holes for cooling, certainly wouldn't cool as well as an open drive. And it had an extra SATA card that the SSD was connected to, and then you connected the iMac SATA cable to the other end of the SATA card. This is another potential point of failure that if it fails will require reopening the iMac, which isn't what you want to do (iMac isn't easy to open). So I gave up the Icy Dock and looked for an adapter like this Sabrent.
