Bought for Darwin. He had a three-speed submersible pump that kept failing. This pump keeps water flowing and we haven't had any clogs. He also defecated into an old bowl that contained a pump. We have had no problems with contaminated water. If I have to say something bad, it's a little louder than a submersible pump, but not too bad. My kids have no problem sleeping in the same room and I think our chameleon loves it too.
