I'll start with a tripod - it's light and doesn't really support the ring. It's the same ultra-thin tripod that every company wants but pays the bare minimum to use. Mine arrived dusty and rusted. I would NEVER use an expensive camera or phone for this. I've seen them crumble with a few pounds on them. Use with DSLR as pictured? nope No way. Unless you hate your DSLR. The ball head is the typical ball head that comes with almost every light kit. It's decent enough to hold a sports cam, phone, or small pocket camera. A phone mount is included, and it's decent too. I was honestly arguing about three or four stars for this set. Light 4 stars - easy. Using the white settings is very easy as there are only three of them. Finding a color or effect can take forever as each one has to be repeated to find the one you want. Once you find it, it will only be saved until you turn off the light. This means that 1) it always uses some power and 2) if you turn it off and want a specific effect or color, you have to spend time looking for it again. Finally, the brightness is ok. No closer than half a meter for good lighting. Because it's a ring, you get a nice even light and a very cool reflection of the ring on the pupils. It's really awesome as a background effect for videos.
