This is my first pet scale purchase. I've had other scales behind me, but this kind never crossed my mind. I've tried weighing my adopted kittens/cats using a standard scale, it's been difficult and didn't work to say the least. This scale, as I could tell from the start, differed in the approach I took. It is always said that tools make work easier. And that axiom is sooo true. The scale is easy to use. However, it still has bells and whistles that make a difference. I could tell they must have gone through a learning curve to get it right. It doesn't happen overnight. Turn on the scale, select the type of weight, place the kitty on the "bumpy top of the scale" (so it doesn't slide off) and press the "hold" button when it slows down trying to escape. That doesn't mean you have to hold them there for a long time, just about a second and then press the hold button. This holds the weight in place for you to burn off. And it has an optional process of zeroing the scales after you put something on it, and then placing your "pet" in or on itself. Most animal scales have this feature. All in all, the scale is 100% easy to use and contains only the correct parameters required for easy operation. You will be satisfied, otherwise blame me.
