They replaced the existing standard dash speakers, so they had the disadvantage of bouncing high frequencies off the windshield and creating that "glassy" sound that audiophiles love. love hate I set the crossovers to -2dB which smoothed them out a lot. They sound great with the stock head so I can't speak to their performance. There's no guarantee you'll like them in your setup, but I definitely love mine. Give your new speakers some break-in time and experiment with the crossover setup to get the best out of them.
