Review on Klein Tools 32288 Insulated 8-in-1 Screwdriver Set with Interchangeable Blades, Including 3 Phillips, 3 Slotted, and 2 Square Tips by Travis Rogers

Small or not, switchable truth.

Since I'm a little smarter with my body, I decide to simplify. I was looking for two flip blade grips so I could easily switch between flat and philips in my tool bag. Wiha is the gold standard and has been used in our historic lighting factory for some time. Banking a full gear is amazing, but traveling with a full gear becomes difficult and expensive. Enter available options from Small. Wiha manufactures 70-100+ replacement blades complete with one handle. I can buy two Kleins with extra blades for it. Here's what I did. I was a bit disappointed with the quality. Of the two ordered, one came with a coating defect preventing the blade from working properly in and out. It should never have passed quality control. But it happened, and that tells me more about Klein. If that coating gets damaged and the tool's tolerance is so tight for a snug fit, how does it last long on the tool belt with other tools coming in and out all day? The holding mechanism seems very simple and I wonder about its durability. And in today's throwaway world, it hurts to talk about it, but it's more profitable for a company to buy 2-3 good products than to buy a really good one for three times the price. Especially given the reality of portable tools. I bought a set of Wiha pictures for personal use for 36.00 from Revain. The Wiha grips are simply flat and work better than anything I've used over the years. I'll try the Klein and see how it performs, but it just doesn't feel as well designed or as durable as the Wiha. I also bought a Hurricane set to compare and while it's good and feels a lot better than the Klein, I don't see myself being able to use this set with a tool belt. When you need to switch 2-3 drivers quickly, it gets a bit clunky. The case is good, although the Hurricane grip feels a bit more getting used to and the locking mechanism is much more secure. If they made a two handle set with reversible blades, I think other manufacturers would have something to worry about. I generally keep the wiha set for the tool case and use the small for the tool belt. I hope the replacement is reliable. I'll try to post an update after a month of use.
