I bought these to wear under jeans on extra cold days and they do the job well. They're thin enough to fit under my skinny jeans without feeling too tight or bulky and provide a nice extra layer of insulation. Also good against the wind. The face fabric is smooth enough not to bunch up under jeans, while the inner fabric has a very light fleece feel. I usually choose a size between small and medium (5ft 4in and 125#). I ordered a small and the length was right, the sizing was good on the legs and buttocks but a little big on the waistband, it's not as fitted as other thermals, falls more at hip level and the waistband is essentially a striped elastic (as a personal preference (I usually buy high waisted). I wouldn't wear these leggings alone as leggings as I found I had to constantly pull them up without the jeans over them. It also didn't do the line test, a pair of standard underpants seemed like underwear to me - although the leggings are thick enough to remain completely opaque Your mileage may vary All in all, solid thermal leggings to wear under pants!
