The only downside is there can be a learning curve with the thickness and your grip. Soapy water is "slippery" and these gloves are serious. I can wash dishes in boiling water with no discomfort, which I LOVE, so it wasn't hard for me to learn to slow down a bit until I felt I could control smooth crystal glasses etc. Once I figured out how to pick up items properly, these gloves feel so much worse on all other gloves! They're lined to keep your hands from getting sticky and the heat resistance is amazing. Now I have several pairs so everyone can help with the dishes. I'm sure it's weird, but being able to work comfortably in very hot water makes washing hands MUCH easier, faster, and, honestly, even a little bit more fun!
