This appears to be a plasticized cover only, with no other thickness unlike the two previous covers I've had. It fits better than the others did; however, am not too sure how much protection it provides - other than keeping cat paw prints off the car. One plus is that the underside does not collect debris from the ground as the other covers did. I have no idea how long this will last and actually did purchase it for keeping the cat prints off my car underneath the carport. So will update once any other data becomes evident.
