These are sturdy shoes. And the sole has no grip. I had to add an insert. The style is great. but the stuff is pretty cheap (which you can get for $20) so it's HEAVY! I had to put an insole in the sole because my son complained that they were too hard. and not comfortable. I ordered a size 7 and he is a 6 1/2. I'm glad I made it so he wears thicker socks and added an insole (I got them from his sneakers while we were out. I'll add a better one next time). So, order a size 1/2, let your child carry them around the house to see how they feel, add a pad and you'll be fine. I wouldn't buy them for every day (not good enough) but for a wedding or event they are perfect.
