I've gotten pretty far into my 3D printing hobby and bought an Ender 3 Pro to turn it into an instant workhorse. I chose Ender 3 pro over Ender 3 due to better power delivery and frame; There may be other changes that I'm not aware of, but these two are the most important to me. It's so easy to buy a kit rather than buying individual parts, which while doable and preferable, wasn't necessary for this project. The packaging is amazing. The kit is much better built than the mono value printer I had in the beginning. I was surprised by the use of a single threaded rod for the Z axis, but it seems to be very durable, especially after properly tightening the Z axis rollers. I intend to replace all rollers with linear guides, which turned out to be a good idea little difficult during the pandemic we are having right now. What I really like about this printer is that it's a great starting point for a beginner. You can get it up and running in about a couple of hours if you build at a leisurely pace. The community for the printer is huge, so you always have support. And if you want to upgrade, there are so many details available to do so. For example, the parts I bought far exceed the cost of the printer itself - linear guides, an improved extruder (we're discussing Hemera/Mosquito), SKR 1.3, TMC2208, better steppers, 0.9 inch stepper, Whamtam platform, BL - Touch . .Options are endless. Unfortunately, my first printer was retired a while ago because updates were fairly limited or required extensive modeling on my part; If this was my first printer I would definitely still use it as one of my main devices.
