I've been using it in Arizona for a few months and haven't had any problems with the lock or chain. It might not be a security solution in a place where a thief can spend a minute or so with a cordless cutting wheel tool, but I don't think it can be quickly and discreetly defeated. This is significant as several bikes with cheap locks were stolen right outside my local grocery store during a busy day. It's in a pretty good area but bike thieves have attacked it several times.
