I've been using it in Arizona for a few months and haven't had any problems with the lock or chain. This padlock/chain is very heavy but not as heavy or bulky as the 15 pound 'fahgettaboutit' version. Cyclists may still find 8 pounds too heavy for normal traction. With this chain and lock I am sure that my bike will not be stolen. It's heavy, so I wouldn't take it on a mountain bike or on long trips. It's great for short jobs though.
