This padlock/chain is very heavy but not as heavy or bulky as the 15 pound 'fahgettaboutit' version. Cyclists may still find 8 pounds too heavy for normal traction. I personally don't think Kryptonite should sell it to cyclists for that reason, but I digress. I drive a Vespa style scooter and it is perfect for this class of vehicle. The locking loop is a decent size, the chain segments pass through the wheels' cast spokes, the length allows it to be attached to a large-diameter object (assuming it's nearby), and it packs nicely into the seat compartment. giggles and is probably very discouraging to any would-be thief. My scooter is electric so you can only hitch the front wheels. (one-piece rear hub) If someone tried to remove the front wheel, they would get stuck trying to carry a several hundred pound 6-cell scooter on only the one-way offset rear wheel; theoretically possible, but ultimately pointless. They will drop him off at the first hill.
