Review on CTA Digital PAD HGT Heavy Duty Gooseneck by Jaleel Akuffo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Industrial strength quality

I was concerned that this gooseneck tablet stand might be too light and too short. I was wrong on both counts. This thing is built like an M1A1 Abrams tank. The whole thing is solid, strong and durable, from the adjustable tablet holder, to the adjustable gooseneck, to the universal clamp that attaches it to a tabletop or tubular support. Device. I wasn't sure if the gooseneck would be long enough for my limited mounting options. I mounted this on a recumbent cross trainer that has both a water bottle holder and digital display/machine controls right in the way, but the gooseneck is more than long enough to get through any obstacles. The only device I've seen that could fit both rectangular for a table top and round for a tubular frame (wheelchairs, bikes, exercise machines). The tubular frame of my commercial elliptical cross trainer is larger than average and I was concerned that the adjustable jaws of the mounting clamp would not open wide enough. There's a heavy grip screw adjustment for opening and closing the jaws, so I loosened it just enough to fit what I thought was enough to enclose the large tubular frame. I missed it by a mile. I had to tighten the clamp a few turns to get it back to the correct size. Once put on, it becomes a "bank vault". A word of caution: the manufacturer offers 3 self-adhesive foam pads of different thicknesses to take up the "slack" between the back of the tablet and the "front" mounting frame. Tablets have gotten so thin lately (I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4) that all three combined weren't thick enough to take up the "slack". I had to make a 4th styrofoam pad (luckily there are styrofoam wrapping sheets in the box which are great for this. Just cut with scissors). I have decided to use a lockable security cable but have not used it yet. . It seems quite heavy and suitable for the task. A bit pricey"? Yes, but worth every penny for excellent quality, safety and mounting options. Just buy it, you won't regret it.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Can I add something
