With my windshield suction cup mount coming loose about twice a week it was time for something more permanent. This dash mount worked great. Just below the windshield is a nice flat sheet of plastic that's notably devoid of texture. I cleaned the dash area and plastic mounting base with 3M general purpose adhesive remover and then denatured alcohol. The adhesive pad took hold immediately and was strong for a month. When lifted onto the bracket, the dashboard is pulled along. I don't expect it to weaken anytime soon. The mounting ball fits my Garmin Nuvi mount well. It's snug enough to keep the GPS at the right angle, even on the pretty potholes riddled with Northeast winter roads. Once blocked, there was no hand movement or GPS at all. Overall I'm very happy with the setup and would buy more. After reading the reviews, it turned out that many dashboard materials cause problems. In my experience, if you don't have a non-porous, flat surface made of smooth plastic or metal, get a bean bag bracket instead. The supplied glue is excellent, but only if all the silicone and grease is removed first. Update (05/02/2018): Six weeks of built-in GPS came to an end today. When the temperature first rose above 80 degrees, the dash mount fell off. I'll have to find a better glue as what comes with the mount is only reliable in cooler weather. I give three stars because the mount works well but the strap doesn't. I am convinced that no amount of surface preparation will help in the long run.
