Review on BLACK DECKER WM225 Portable Project by Matthew Marquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Durable and small footprint.

Great little workbench. As other users have said, the instructions suck (if I remember correctly, there is actually a step in the booklet that tells you to put the screws in the wrong holes). I had to watch YouTube videos to make sure I was doing it right. Even the small metal pin that holds the plastic knobs in place doesn't seem to fit in the holes at first; You really have to hammer them, but eventually they'll fit. Pretty sturdy, small and perfect for the minimalist in me. I turned this into a functional workbench by simply pounding out a sheet of $20 2x4 plywood from Home Depot, screwing a piece of regular 2x4 board to the bottom, and clamping it together with a Workmate vise (see pictures or YouTube). Can't compete with an $80 full-size workbench; I used it to make some shelves and do some sanding and pre-painting work. It seems sturdy enough to put a table saw on it and I'm also planning to make my own router table.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not sure
