The material is quite hard, you can also feel the heat of the bakeware over 350 if you hold it more than 30 seconds. This works for a quick transfer and looks great. Update - The black outer material on the mittens burned off while holding a 390F hot pan. No longer useful as the burnt portion is directly above the finger area. Do not buy, took 1.5 months.
