Review on Enhance your Car Audio with Alpine Electronics πŸš— PWE-S8 Restyle Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer in Sleek Black Design by Rick Pickering

Nice addition to my stock JBL Tundra system.

I have a 13 Tundra Crewmax and wanted to add some bass to the stock system. The truck came with a factory subwoofer behind the seat that doesn't produce much bass at all. While there's plenty of room in the Crewmax's cockpit, there's not much usable space for a submarine. This unit fits perfectly into the back wall between the jack slot and the existing factory subwoofer without restricting the range of the back seat at all. I plugged in the factory subwoofer horn but left it plugged in thinking there was no point in unplugging it since it was already there. I only used 10 gauge power and ground as this unit turns on when it sees an audio signal and turns off when it doesn't, so no remote cable was required. When I first turned it on I was very impressed with how much sound it added, but I wouldn't say it made a huge impression. After weeks of use and fiddling with the setup, including changing the phase switch to 180, this speaker really came to life. I'm not sure if it's the slump or if I just needed to tweak it better, but the wow factor is definitely there. I think it's easy to compare to the two 8" subwoofers and amp I had in my old pickup, but it takes up 1/8th the space and costs a lot less. Not sure about durability as I've only had it for a few months. but it feels solid and doesn't get warm even after prolonged use at higher volume.
