More impressive than they look

I bought these in the small size for my 5 year old girl. The pants are a little big, but they can be used, and the jacket is just huge. I was expecting this, so I'm going to keep her until she's a little bit grown up. They're obviously meant to be worn over regular clothing, so I don't have to wait long. The material is quite difficult to describe - it looks like a sturdy paper windbreaker. I don't think it will tear, especially as I don't use them in too harsh conditions. Doesn't sound like much, but I ran both parts under the kitchen sink by hand for a good five minutes and my hands were bone dry. The outer material was damp for a while, but never on the inside. I can't vouch for how well they stand up to a walk in the woods, but they will definitely keep a child dry during a downpour on the way to or from school. They don't look that warm but I haven't tested them outside and I think they could still be worn over something warm. I like that the cuffs on the jacket and pants have elastic so they stay in place even if they are too big. Pants also on an elastic band with drawstring. The jacket closes with a zipper. The hood is a really good size, big enough to cover the front of the head a bit or to cover the hat underneath. The only downsides I see are that neither the pants nor the jacket have pockets and the hood of the jacket doesn't have a drawstring - I can see it being blown away in strong winds. In general, I really like it back then and looked at adult sizes myself.
