The outer shell is very shiny and iridescent. The colors I see are green, purple, blue, peach and possibly gold. The outside wipes down easily, but I wouldn't put water on it. The inside is made of paper/cardboard. I highly recommend sealing it with ModPodge (I used a matte formula) or your choice of sealer. The bottom of the palette is magnetic. It holds up well, but be aware that not all eyeshadow shapes respond to magnets. As far as I know, 18 standard round pans can be put in. It sticks closer with more magnets. Overall I really like this palette for the price and size. If there is any weird wear or it falls apart I will update but so far I really like my palette.
