Overall the concept of this product is amazing. This simple and sterile self-piercing method is particularly suitable for lobe piercings. Everything was painless for me until this evening (approx. four months after the piercing) I tried to remove the earrings to clean my back. The first butterfly prop required some extra force, but I was able to pull it off. The second just didn't move. For several months I took the earrings off to clean them every 2-3 weeks and they were always a bit stiff and difficult to pull off. But this time the back got into a groove and didn't budge! After trying to remove my back for about 5 minutes my piercing was bleeding from the stress and I thought I might need to get it professionally removed (I ended up using lip gloss as a lube and took it off). Moral of the story: these applicators are a great concept. I pierced carefully and now I have two nice little holes in my ears. But to avoid this scary experience, you can definitely find an alternative brand that uses better quality pre-installed earrings. When you're in the mood, simply remove the earrings and replace them after a few days.
