Like many of you reading this right now, I bought a smaller inverter generator to run the wheels on AC. Even if only air conditioning. Then I fired up the generator, ran the air conditioner and watched it overload. I hadn't noticed until now that the initial hype was so great. By this point I had already built a baffle that made the generator almost silent and that was the whole purpose, be quiet. So. I decided on options that would allow me to stick with one of the smaller inverter generators, I was up for anything. I found this and was a little hesitant. I was like hey this is Revain, I'll try it and if it doesn't work I'll send it back. Well the results have been excellent. Install - they have almost every specific AC circuit and step by step instructions. If you can connect the cut power cord, you can complete the rooftop installation in just 10-20 minutes. The start-up hectic is reduced to an almost normal operating level. A/C starts up much smoother/quieter I would add even if it weren't for the generator aspect on future RV's. I've had a hard time finding actual data or user reviews to help my decision, so for those who are thinking, I checked out the following: 15kbtu Coleman Mach (2015) with soft start. My Generation: The Generac gp3300i runs AC like a champ at 5000ft in Eco mode with an extra 1000 watts in the inverter and fan. Good luck with that, my fellow RVs wanted to see how other small generators could handle a 15k soft start unit so we went for it. Friends, Honda eu2200 - works well with AC, you need to watch out for additional load. It handles short term overloads very well, just keep an eye on your total sustained consumption. Tested @ 3000ftBuddies Wen 2250 - Works great on AC, doesn't handle extra loads/momentary overloads very well. Tested at 3000 feet All tests were conducted at 90-95ยฐ. All tests lasted at least 6 hours. I hope this helps those who are thinking about it. I've attached a photo from a trip to a dry lot on Blue Ridge Boulevard last weekend. You don't have to rely on AC anymore, it has really opened up when and where we can visit, especially with campsites and the like that are so booked these days.
