Review on πŸ’ͺ Dramm 12353: The Ultimate Heavy-Duty Brass Shut-Off Valve for Unparalleled Performance by Richard Cartner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

heavy brass, made in the USA but apparently not quality checked.

It's expensive and I got it because of the DRAM name. There are TWO ball valves and ONE sprocket. Every part had a problem.* A valve did not open fully. DRAMM brags about how wide the opening is, but it beats that. Of course it's not much, but then *WHAT* it cost a lot. Minus 0.5 stars.* Another valve ball fell out. It can be reassembled, but when it falls apart so quickly (< 1 month) then I don't count on its reliability. Minus 1 star.* T-piece has thread problems. Sounds like a casting issue or an issue where the threads have been cut. I put plumbing/teflon tape on all the threads but that doesn't help. Minus 1 star.* During reassembly, I noticed that if I pulled the valves all the way onto the tee, the valve stems could bang against the other valve block. A different (or thicker) washer would have helped, but I don't want to repeat their work. Minus 0.5 stars.* Metal reacts quickly to water. Judging by the threads and discoloration, you'd think it's lasted an entire season. But he was there for maybe a week or two. No star deduction for that. So the overall rating is 2 stars (5 - 1 - 1 - 0.5 - 0.5). It was expensive and maybe I was unlucky and got a bad one. Value-wise, THIS doesn't seem much better than the other cheaper versions.
