I don't usually write reviews but in this case I'm very satisfied. This item did EXACTLY what I expected. I moved into a standard, carpeted office that smelled of smoke, plastic (bags, you know, that diaper pail smell), and God knows what else. The area of one room was about 200-300 square meters. feet, and the other is about 400 square meters. ft. I bought and returned four different units from Lowes and Home Depot ranging in price from $150 to $300. After everyone had worked for about a week, the smells still lingered. Basically the smell of the new filter covered the smell for the first two days, then the original smells started to linger again. I thought I would have to take off the carpet and all other fabrics. I remember my parents had something similar many years ago and it worked fine. An hour later, at most in every room with the door closed, he got everything out. There was a strong smell of ozone which dissipated after about half an hour and the initial smells were gone! On days when I have clients in the office, I leave the ionizer on for about an hour in the morning for most of the low ozone day. That makes the windowless office quite spacious inside, in my opinion. If you smoke, don't waste your time with other air filters that cost two to three times as much. If you have allergies or are in a dusty environment that requires a HEPA filtration option, then be sure to spend the money. But if smells and smoke are your goal, this little box will get the job done. The only thing to look out for with this device is that it works VERY WELL. The downside is that if you or your customers are sensitive to ozone, you need to think about it beforehand. Only use the ozone setting when you need to eliminate stubborn odors. Running for 2 hours at high speed with the room closed and UNOCATED (including pets) should help. Personally, I only run the ionizer/fan during the day with the ozone function off. The instructions are fairly simple, but remember that everyone's sensitivity to ozone is different. Keep this in mind if you use this in the office.
