Not sure why Toyota thought it was such a great idea to replicate this part in plastic (besides saving a few pennies), I've heard too many plastic parts have come out round or complete broke so I bought this to replace the plastic tube on my 2017 4Runner - I had to swap the center tube from my plastic tube to this housing; The midpipe used in the 4.0L 4Runner is longer because it uses the "taller" -YZZA5 filter instead of the -YZZA1 used in engines (like the 3.5L in the Rav-4) for which this node is intended . The only difference is the length of the inner tube, which can be changed in about 30 seconds. For a part that will be exposed to the heat of engine oil for 10,000 miles between removal and reinstallation, I'll use the metal part.
