Review on Castelli Cycling Squadra Stretch Jacket by Andrew Roberts

Revainrating 3 out of 5

But the landing is great.

I'm 5'7", 160 lbs and XL is perfect if you're interested in sizing. So, I have a 10 year old Castelli fold jacket that I still wear (black). The fabric is 100% polyester and is very soft like silk. It breathes very well and is good for cool days. But it's black, doesn't fit very well (flutters in the wind), plus I need more visibility, now my 6am rides start in the dark. I first ordered the Squadra ER Jacket (white) in the inelastic version. The fit wasn't great, as soon as I put it on I wanted to take it off! The fabric was very stiff like plastic so I sent it back and ordered the Squadra Stretch (yellow). The fit with Lycra inserts is great! The fabric is much softer than the white inelastic ambulance jacket I returned but nowhere near as soft as my old black jacket! I also sweat more in this new yellow Squadra jacket as it lacks breathability. It's waterproof, yes, but what if I'm sweaty? I keep it on the road for safety, but once it's light I have to take it off. Castelli, please use a vintage silk fabric with Lycra panels and you have a perfectly fitting, breathable, lightweight cool weather jacket! new non-stretch ER 5.2 oz (does not compress small enough for back pocket)
