Review on TYC 99-06 Bw 3 Srs Blower Assy: High-Quality Replacement for Your Vehicle's Ventilation System by Antoine Dean

Rugged packaging, complicated installation

This fan assembly comes in smart packaging. The plastic cage completely surrounded the device. It would confuse any angry package seller. BMW almost allowed access to the fan assembly. To get to the unit, you have to remove a lot, including imitation covers on top of the engine. Make sure you turn the wipers all the way up, then turn the key off. This will move the wiper arms out of the way. The electrical connector is difficult to reach and disconnect, but with needle-nosed pliers, good lighting, and a steady hand, it will disengage. Good luck removing the old block without damaging at least one of the clips. Installing a new block is like solving a Chinese wire puzzle. I found removing the left 8mm nut and cage from the end opposite the electrical entry made the job easier and prevented the cage from breaking. With the exposed shaft facing the front of the vehicle, lightly insert the pinched end of the device into the hole on the passenger side in the center of the air box, rotate the device and slide towards the driver's side. Insert the removed cage into the air chamber, slide onto the open shaft and mount the shaft nut. Plug it into the wall socket, put it back into the holder and snap the retaining clip into place. Put the fenders back on and you're done. I didn't find any gap issues as others have reported. I can't say anything about the durability yet, but the workmanship seems to be acceptable.
