Review on πŸ’Ώ Sony DVM63HDR/2 HD MiniDV Videocassette - Pack of 2 by Chuck Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent quality (no peeling or fading) but a bit pricey

After purchasing our Canon VIXIA HV30 High Resolution 10x Optically Stabilized Zoom MiniDV camcorder, I started buying these Sony HD camcorders over the last autumn break ribbons. In terms of tape quality, I didn't notice any lag or frame drops, even after around 20 hours of recording on 20 different tapes. The product itself makes a very good impression. The colors and resolution are *amazing*. When I compared a kitchen scene from my old standard definition MiniDV and MiniDV tapes to the HD MiniDV alternative, I was *amazed* at how much better the HD solution looked. The colors are much brighter and the resolution is of course impressive. I know you can use regular MiniDV tapes if you want to with this HD camera but Canon recommends using special HD tape media and I guess I'm recording memories that will last a lifetime so why being stingy? i really like it The coloring of the tapes is very different from all my standard definition MiniDV tapes I've shot over the years. These WHITE tapes make it easy to distinguish HD tapes from regular tapes. I can immediately see where in my library I started recording in high definition. The only reason this product is not a 5 star product is that it is overpriced in my opinion. If they cost just a dollar or two more than regular MiniDV tapes, this would be a 5 star product. (By the way, Canon camera, the one I'm using isn't the latest version. If you're looking for a new HD MiniDV camera, check out Canon's latest product, the Canon VIXIA HV40 HD HDV camcorder with 10x optical zoom. I love my Canon camera and highly recommend it!)
