Quality control is NOT good. Update from the original review: I got a new cage.

Update: Got a replacement cage. At least this cage arrived intact with no bent bars or bad thumbtacks. The quality of the metal (pipes) seems good and durable. But the weakness of tack welding is obvious. Welds don't go all the way through, instead tacking is used which I don't think are as strong and prone to breakage. The top and side "hinges" are bolts that attach to welded nuts (an improvised hinge/pivot) that give more play. then I would like to see. To secure the entire cage and make sure the welds don't fail, I wrapped the cage all the way around and on top. This cage has what it takes to be a good cage if only the welding and hinges/pivots were improved. Original post below: Welds are tacked, not fully welded. My box/cage arrived in an undamaged box. However, the bottom plate of the tray was broken in three different places. The lower bar is bent, tacking seams are not observed. The black plastic shell was cracked and broken. I think it was damaged even before it was put in the box. Poor quality control?, bad tack welding, bent and broken frame. The plastic tray cracked and broke. It must be packed/wrapped by a blind person. I have zip ties holding it together. I was able to contact MFG/seller, they were willing to send me a new cage but Revain will arrange the exchange. I would not buy this cage again due to the current processing. The tacks used are too brittle in my opinion and failed in three different places. A system that doesn't use hinges but instead uses home made nuts and bolts as the hinges is a poor design that will result in the cage becoming "wobbly" and not very reliable mechanically. I had to use over a dozen T-wraps to secure this cage and make it less likely that the roof of the cage wouldn't fall into the cage. see photos of failed tacks and a bent bottom bar.

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • A little maintainability
