Review on 🏠 Effortless Home Automation: Introducing the SHELLY 1 One Relay Switch with Wireless WiFi Connectivity and iOS/Android Application (1 Pack) by Peter Green

The hardware is easy to set up and fairly compact. The features are just what I need; Power input 120V, relay controlling switch without power and Wi-Fi connection. The product doesn't work, starting with a lousy app. The device setup instructions in the app were incomplete and incorrect. Adding a device took quite a while and wasn't intuitive since the process isn't like all the other apps we're used to. After installing the app, I was happy to add it to Google Home. From here it gets worse. Google Home doesn't recognize or support the device itself, instead connecting to a cloud of devices that we know is terrible. You can't tell Google to paste something. Rather, you have to ask Google to connect to Shelly cloud and then go to Shelly voice recognition, which is useless. Despite using the command template provided by the Shelly website, verbal commands do not work. Maybe we should say commands in Mandarin? Since I only wanted to use the device to control the fireplace with Google Home, but I can't and it would be cumbersome, I'm sending the device back.
